Today’s assignment had me running outside several times today to capture different bits of sun and it’s effects throughout the day. This morning, Sparks was on the deck on the south side of the house with the early morning sun:

As the day progressed, the pinecones catching the sun caught my eye:

As the afternoon got warmer, even our bees started flying around. I got up nice and close to the hives and captured the bees flying in and out of the hive, as well as a few just sitting in the sun:

As the day comes to a close, I’m editing this post to add in a warm and late day shot of Peekaboo the kitten:

Hello and thank you for visiting my blog! I am a mixed bag all jumbled up with glitter writing a book, playing on ham radio (I'm WY7YL), being a Parrothead, making jewelry, running, reading, or running around with my camera taking pics of nature and my cats. This blog is a smattering of all of it!

    1. Thanks! Honey bees are very gentle….many times in the summer i’ll go sit in front of the hives and just watch and listen…it’s very soothing.

      1. they won’t sting? i assumed all kinds of bees have stingers and are programed to sting you once you get in a certain range for them. every time i hear a buzz, i scramble for cover right away. but thats good to know although i wouldn’t be able to distinguish a honey bee from any other type of bee. 😉

      2. Well…they WILL sting if you piss them off, but if they do they die. Honey bees are quite docile. We put on suits when we have to open the hives, but otherwise they seem to know our smell/pheromones. And these girls made beeutiful honey this past season too! 🙂
