Zero to Hero 22: Blog Event – Daily Wisdom

I’m a couple days behind on my posts, so I’m still on Day 22 at the moment. The assignment is to dive in and participate in a blog event that is new to us. I already participate in a few photography blogging events, so I decided it was time to find one for writing. I discovered the Daily Wisdom page where I am offered a choice of items to blog about based on what they provide. The categories are:

  • Word of the Day
  • Quote of the Day
  • Article of the Day
  • This Day in History
  • Today’s Birthday
  • In the News

I decided to venture in to the Quote of the Day

Synchronicity surrounds us when we pay attention. This past week I’ve had discussions with people regarding pain and suffering, bringing in lessons from Buddhism and Conversations with God. Dostoyevsky identifies with pain and suffering with those with a deep heart. I believe he was delving in to the deep realms of suffering – identification of our reasons for being here, as well as the sometimes seemingly endlessness of life. When a human being is able to identify all that is the cause of the suffering, it is then the striving to remove the suffering begins.

In The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching, Thich Nhat Hanh says, “When we are able to identify our suffering and see its causes, we will have more peace and joy, and we are already on the path to liberation.”

Sometimes this sounds so easy, other times absolutely impossible. Perhaps it really is in the identification of the suffering that we truly do find our path.

Zero to Hero….Welcome to Katie’s Crazy Life!

Today is Day 1 of the Zero to Hero: 30 Days to a Better Blog Challenge! I’m making a cannonball in to the blogging pool with the hopes of making a splash as big as my husband made in the pool in Las Vegas recently at the Jimmy Buffett pre-concert pool party at the Flamingo. Let’s just say it was a big enough splash that the life guard, (who looked to be about 12 and really didn’t understand all of us crazy Parrotheads) visited our area and asked my husband kindly if he would refrain from further cannonballs.

The purpose of today’s blog is to introduce myself and describe why i’m here. I’m assuming we aren’t expected to provide the answer on an existential basis…just why we are here blogging versus writing in our journal – not keeping our thoughts/ideas to ourselves and instead sharing our crazy with everyone who might accidentally (or coerced because they are a relative or friend) visit our blog and see what we are up to.

Here goes a short tale of my adventure here. I turned 44 on New Year’s Eve, which has been of interest to me for many months. The concept of 44…the number 44….4+4=8. Eight has always been my favorite number, although until recently I didn’t really understand why. A friend reminded me that eight turned sideways is the symbol for infinity. Ah yes, that makes sense in my constant quest to learn more about the universe and how I fit in to the “big picture.”  Continue reading “Zero to Hero….Welcome to Katie’s Crazy Life!”
